With the Angels

Wow, what a week. I have so many things to be thankful for! This week has been a lot of fun and I am also now even more grateful for life and the time that I am able to share with the people I love. Today has become a day that will be marked in History, remembered for its impact on Entertainment & Popular Culture. Farrah Fawcett passed away this morning at age 62 after battling with cancer for more than 2 years. She was a goddess in the 70's and as years went on she continued to draw people to her with her smile and caring nature. It is now confirmed that Michael Jackson - MICHAEL JACKSON! has passed away of cardiac arrest at age 50. Paramedics rushed to his Holmby Hills home about 1230pm and found Mr. Jackson unconscious not breathing. As expected, the media is swarming around UCLA Medical Center where he was taken by ambulance and no doubt surrounding the streets near his parents' home in Encino. One could discuss Jackson in so many different aspects, especially over the years as events took place, judgements and speculations occured, and jokes were made. As the weeks go on and stories are told, events recalled upon, we must remember that the main reason the world came to know this person is because of his talent, creativity, desire for love. What people do with their lives, personally, most of us will really not ever come to know. People make good and bad choices constantly. We are all human, struggling to live life the best way we know how with the tools we are provided with by our parents and environment. "A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives" ( I took this quote from a photo at Dodger Stadium, not sure the origin). When anyone passes away it is a reminder to live the best life you can everyday that you are given. We do not know for certain how long we have here on Earth; the desicion you just made - the words you just spoke could be the last memory someone has of you. Rest in Peace to all of those who have passed away but even more so, good wishes for all of us who are still trying to find the right path through this life. May we all be driven to make the best choices for ourselves and those around us.

Get a Dictionary!

I'd call it a slam, not a highlight of an awesome fighter! Last night watching good ol' SpikeTV they were showing some of the greatest knockouts and best moments in MMA history. Well about 40 mins into the program they start hyping up Mr. Chuck Liddell. Over the years Chuck has displayed some great skills and strength. He definatly has knocked some guys out - that's for sure! So as my boyfriend and I continue to watch, waiting for what we think is going to be some great moments in Liddell's career - calm cool Chuck giving his opponent a good knock to the face then run around the ring backwards howling like the Iceman does! When the show comes back from commercial however, they begin the introduction of Liddell vs. Evans. (wait, what?) Right away bells go off in my head and I look at my boyfriend who already looks upset. Sure enough, as we had remembered it, this is the fight Chuck did not dominate but in fact was on the receiving end of one nasty knockout. Tribute? I was not the only one to hear this word. How is this a tribute? Did Chuck and the UFC have a falling out? Does someone (producer/writer) not know the meaning of "Tribute"? At any rate, if I were Chuck's team I'd have some words with the people at UFC.

"Up" up and ... away

I've been wanting to see "Up" since reading the plot of the story and have heard great things about it from those who have seen the movie. I just read this article about a little girl whose dying wish was to see the latest Disney/Pixar film but became too sick to actually go to a theater once "Up" released. A close friend of the family decided that she was going to make this little girl's dream come true, if she could only make the right connections. She did! A representative for Disney/Pixar visited the girl's home where the movie was screened for her to enjoy, fulfilling her last wish. Shortly after the screening of "Up" the child passed away. She only wanted to live long enough to see the movie, other than that she was "ready" to go..."Up", her mother shared.

This touched me in so many different ways, there are so many discussions that could come from this story...the timing of it all, the idea that people can live for certain moments, a corporation actually responding to a random telephone call from a lady with a personal issue (sure, there is some publicity to gain here, but they already support Make A Wish)... I could go on. It is a very inspiring story; it reminds me to take chances - on your(my)self, do/say what you really feel/want (truly desire), have passion, live everyday to the fullest and... answer the phone, you don't know who is calling or why.

All Aboard!

My First Blog! Well, aside from entries on MySpace and the random comment posted to another's blog. Somehow I've been thinking lately that it is Rocket Science to become a blogger, even though I took classes on this stuff in College and could have started this years ago! At any rate, i'm now on board to create an area to share commentary about my life and everything that influences me (that I feel like sharing/commenting on). For much of my life I have been a pretty "lucky" girl and hope to share my wonderful experiences - even the not so great experiences are often worth sharing - so here's to the beginning of another new venture, rocket science or not!
